Dickinson, pioneer merchant, died at her home in this city last Thursday morning follow- ing a prolonged illness. Mrs. Dickinson was born at Long Prairie. Minnesota, June 22, 1874. She will return to her school duties at six to nine months. At nine months, babies should be protected against diphtheria. The first in- jection of diphtheria toxoid is followed by a second a month later. At 12 months, the smallpox vaccination is given if this has not been done soon after the first two weeks of life. A smallpox death is a rarity in North Dakota today, but unless over 90 percent of infants and preschool children are protected we are apt to have an epidemic.
