Tuesday evening in honor of their
wedding anniversaries.
The teachers held a Christmas
party and gift exchange at the
Scammon home before they left
for their various homes for the
holidays,
Rev. E. Goossen is quite ill with
the flu and ear trouble. Miss Fran-
cis Baker held the services at the
C. F. church in his absence on
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Argonbright enter-

The businessmen gave their an-
nual Christmas treat Friday after-

Due to the flu epidemic in Beach
the high school pupils of the corn-
munity are having a longer Christ-
mas vacation than was expected.

Mrs. Ralph Mosser was taken to
Beach Wednesday, suffering with
heart trouble. She had been ill
with flu previously. We certainly
wish her a speedy recovery.

Carrie Sperry, Mr. and Mrs. Glen
Olson and daughters and the J. F.
Crook family enjoyed a bountiful
turkey dinner and supper at the
Kyle Sperry home Christmas day.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sperry left on
Thursday * afternoon to spend
Christmas with their daughters,
Grace and Norabelli Sperry, and
Alice Metcalf. They plan to go
on to the eastern part of the
state and visit for a time.

nesday afternoon of last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Nic Johnson and
family were guests at the Annie
Kirkpatrick home on Christmas.

spent Christmas day at the Ted
Maanum home in Beach.
Mrs. Dorothy Hess and Miss
Mary Marciniak were Beach shop-
pers Thursday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Clarin spent
Christmas day at the Karnes John-
son home south of Alpha.
Mr. and Mrs. Sturdy Peterson
spent/ the Christmas holidays in
Olendive with Mr. Peterson's par-
ents, who reside there.
Mrs. Avis Kautzmann, who
teaches at the Golva school, has
been sick the past week with the
flu. Alfred Ueckert has been teach-
ing in her place,
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Madison en-
tertained the following guests at a
droner party Sunday evening of
!~s( week. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Schmeling, Mr. and Mrs. George
Wosepka and Mr. and Mrs. Martin
Schillo.
The Golva school held its annual
Christmas program Thursday aiter-
noon of last week. Short plays,
poems and songs were given by the
grade pupils and songs were sung
by the girls glee club. At the end
Santa Claus arrived and the gifts
were distributed and candy given
to the children.
The people of this community
were sorry to hear of the accident
which happened Wednesday eve-
ning on the road southwest of
Gcdva. The occupants of the car
were Mrs. Gee. Rising, Albert, Eva
and Gertrude Rising, Dorothy Susa,
Leno~a and Hazel and Leslie
Hartse, several of whom were ser-
iotmly injured.
