Page 2 Golden Valley News November 3, 2011 Ethel A. Finneman-Carlson Short-time resident of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and longtime resi- dent of Liberty Lake, Wash.. Ethel A. Finneman-Carlson. 93. passed away on Oct. 23, 2011. Ethel was born on Jan. 18. 1918. in Golva during a blizzard where the water froze in the sink. She lived through destroyed crops in 1925 and the Depression of the 1930s stock market crash. Ethel rode horseback 6 miles just to get to high school. She worked in a bank in Golva after school and then the Soil Conservation office in Beach. Once married to Andrew H. Finneman, she settled down as homemaker to raise four children. Andrew C. Finneman Jr., Sharon Emery, Janice Keener and John Finneman (now deceased). Upon the passing of Andrew. Ethel remarried to Lyle Carlson of Bonners Ferry. She is also survived by her sister. Florence Bryant, and brother, Roland Raisler, her three children and 12 great-grandchil- dren. Ethel loved her fishing and even more so, singing. Anyone who knew her will remember her desire to sing. Even the song of birds outside would thrill her. She also loved to entertain and cook for anyone who came to the door. Ethel was a volunteer at Liberty Lake Elementary, SCOPE and Liberty Lake Beach Combers Garden Club. A memorial service will be held Nov. 5, at St. Joseph's Church, 4521 No• Arden Rd. Otis Orchards. Wash.. at 11 a.m. WWII display free to all veterans on Nov. 11 MEDORA - The WWII display at the Chateau deMores will be free to all veterans on Nov. 11. Veterans Day. This is a display of all the branches that served during WWlI. including the nurses• It features some of the military members from North Dakota, articles used, and uniforms. There is also a photo gallery in the hallway. This display will be moving on sometime in September 2012. which means it won't be here next Veterans Dav. The winter hours for the Chateau's Interpretive Center are from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.. Wednesday through Sunday.
