SELLING TALK
A. W. Franklin, secretary of the
United Commercial Travelers of
America, said at a dinner in Co-
lumbus:
"All commercial travelers should
have the gift of persuasion, but few
can ever hope to equal young Bed-
does.
"A junior partner, as he came
into the office, nodded toward the
retreating figure of young Beddoes
and said to his senior:
" 'I see you've taken on a new
salesman. Is he good?'
" 'Good?' the senior partner said.
'In the half hour he's been with us
he almost talked me into taking
him into the firm as senior partner.
Nothing but your opportune arrival
saved me.' "
