Jeff Urban
DICKINSON - A funeral service
for Jeff Urban, 59, of Belfield, was
held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18,
2013, at Stevenson Funeral Home
in Dickinson. In accordance with
Jeff's wishes, cremation took place
and burial will be at a later date.
Visitation for Jeff was from 1-9
p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, at
Stevenson Funeral Home with a
prayer service being held at 7 p.m.
Visitation continued from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. on Friday prior to the serv-
ice.
Jeff passed away Monday, Oct.
14.
Jeffery was born Jan. 6, 1954, in
Beach, the son of Wilhelm and
Ellyn (Brennan) Urban. He grew
up in Fryburg, and attended school
there. After school, he started driv-
ing truck and continued to help on
uncle Dan's farm throughout the
years. On July 27, 1990, Jeff mar-
ried the love of his life, Naomi Hli-
bichuk. To this loving marriage,
the couple was blessed with two
precious sons, Robert and Jesse.
Jeff also worked at various con-
struction jobs throughout the oil
field, but he always called Belfield
his home.
Jeff treasured his family and en-
joyed family gatherings. He dearly
loved his two boys. Jeff enjoyed
spending time outside and going for
walks and drives in the Badlands
with his beautiful blue eyed blonde,
Naomi.
He was a fixer. Jeff could fix
anything and would help anyone in
need. He loved riding his motorcy-
cle and tinkering with motors and
electronics. Jeff liked to tease oth-
ers and had a huge heart. No one
was a stranger for long around Jeff.
He was a very talented man, and he
enjoyed listening to music and
singing karaoke. He always made
time for children and the elderly.
Jeff is survived by his wife,
Naomi; two sons, Robert and Jesse
Urban; brothers, David (Bertha) of
Belfield; Bruce (Loretta) of
Barstow, Calif.; and Dwight (Lau-
rie) of Dickinson; sisters, Dorothy
(Leonard) Makowski of Belfield;
LaDonna (John) Hutzenbiler of
Dickinson; Charlotte (William)
Martian of Rhame; and Sandra
(friend, Kevin Bakken) Ridl of
South Heart; extended family,
"Mom and Dad" Bob and Eva Hli-
bichuk and families of Belfield; and
numerous nieces, nephews, aunts
and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, William and Ellen; brother,
Duane; and several nieces and
nephews.

Forrest Elmer Hodges
BEACH - Forrest Elmer Hodges,
80, went home to be with the Lord
on Oct. 17, 2013, surrounded by his
loving family in St. Alexius Hospi-
tal in Bismarck. Funeral services
for Forrest will be held at a later
date. Silvernale-Silha Funeral
Home of Beach has been entrusted
with arrangements.
Born Jan: 3, 1933;in Judsonia,
Ark., to Joseph Lee and Ruth Jane
Hodges, Forrest was raised in
Arkansas and Illinois. He entered
the U.S. Army at age 17 and served
at numerous duty stations world-
wide, including Tokyo, Japan,
where he met and married Tomiko
(June) Yamaguchi, and in Heidel-
berg, Germany. After June's pass-
ing, Fattest met Rosemary Jones
and they married in 1970. After
serving at his final duty station in
Asmara, Ethiopia, he moved to
Copperas Cove, Texas, with his
family and retired from the Army.
He then attended Central Texas Col-
lege, where he earned a degree in
farm and ranch management. He
and Rosemary later moved to
Beach, where they built and oper-
ated the Outpost Motel for many
years before retiring at their new
home on their farm.
The family would like to recog-
nize and thank the staff and doctors
of the Billings Clinic of Billings,
Mont., as well as the doctors and
staff of the medical/stroke unit at St.
Alexius Hospital of Bismarck for
their outstanding care and support.
The Gtendive Medical Center also
provided excellent care: We would
also like to thank and commend the
first responders and ambulance serv-
ice of Beach. Their care and kind-
ness will always be remembered.
Forrest was preceded in death by
his first wife, June Tomiko Hodges,
brother Chester Levi Hodges, and
sister Helen Taylor.
Forrest is survived by his wife,
Rosemary of Beach; son Joseph
Hodges and wife Tina of Dierks,
Ark.; daughter Althea Kimes and
husband Tim of Norfolk, Va.; daugh-
ter Linda Ritenburgh and husband
Kevin of Lowell, Mich.; and sister
Agnes Segraves of Stockton, Calif..
He is also survived by grandchildren
Joseph and Dustin Hodges, Shanna
Harris, Bethany Hamlin, Kayla
Katerburg and Jaime Ritenburgh, as
well as five great-grandchildren and
many nieces and nephews.

Floyd A. Braden
BEACH - Floyd A. Braden, 93,
of Beach, died at St. Benedict's
Health Center in Dickinson on
Monday, Oct. 14, 2013.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until
5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct.
18, at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral
Home in Beach and from 9:30-
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Beach. Funeral services were at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Beach with Pastor Scott Hojnacki
officiating. Interment with military
honors were held at the Beach
Lutheran Cemetery in Beach. Sil-
vernale-Silha Funeral Home of
Beach was entrusted with the
arrangements.
Floyd was born on May 24,
1920, at Quinion, N.D., the son of
William and Winifred (Pierce)i
Braden. Floyd attended the Neuensa
Country School north of Medora
and later the Fryburg schools near
Fryburg.
In his early years, Floyd worked
on the railroad and was in the CCC
(Civilian Conservation Corps) from
1937 to 1939. In 1939 he went to
Seattle, Wash., to work in a wire
rope factory.
Floyd was called by the United
States Army during WWII, entering
on Aug. 3, 1942, at Fort Snelling,
Minn. During his 3 ½ years of
duty, he attained the rank of Tec 5.
Floyd served in Germany, France,
Belgium, Holland and was in the
Battle of the Bulge. He was honor-
ably discharged on Nov. 3, 1945, at
Camp Chaffer, Ark.
After being discharged from the
United States Army, Floyd returned
to Beach where he married Ida Wo-
jahn on Jan. 22, 1948. Floyd and
Ida continued to live in Beach,
where they raised their family. He
started working for the city of
Beach in 1954, where he worked
for 32 years until retiring in 1986.
Following his retirement, Floyd re-
mained active, helping the city until
2007. During his many years of
service to the city he received many
awards which included: Employee
of the Year, Key to the City and
many others: He was a longtime
member of the Beach American Le-
gion Club and very active in the
Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
Floyd was a member of the plan-
ning committee that erected the
Veterans Memorial. He maintained
the grounds and flowers there from
the time it was built until 2010, as
he was very particular about how
the monument and the park looked.
Floyd's best times were spent
dancing with his wife and playing
on the floor with his grandchildren,
showing them his trains. He was
known as grandpa fix-it because he
fixed everything for them. Floyd
was a man of many talents; there
weren't many things he couldn't do.
He will be missed by all.
Floyd was preceded in death by
one son, Dale Braden on March 31,
1974; one granddaughter, Theresa
Braden, on Sept. 25, 1975; four
brothers and three sisters.
Floyd is survived by his wife of
65 years, Ida, of Beach; one son,
Gary Braden and his wife Swenda
of Beach; three grandchildren, Tara
Losinski and her husband Walter
and their children Teresa, Tyler and
Trevor; Mike Braden and his wife
Jess and their children Alyvia, Eliza
and Bennett; and Trisha Bishop and
her husband Bart and their children
Dawson, Seth, Acelynn, Jade and
Jayce, all of Beach, and numerous
nieces and nephews.

National parks reopen to visitors
Theodore Roosevelt National
Park, Fort Union Trading Post Na-
tional Historic Site and Knife River
Indian Villages National Historic
Site have reopened to the public.
Visitors can now access all pub-
lic areas and roads and all visitors
are open as regularly scheduled.
The three North Dakota national
park units had been closed from
Oct. 1 through Oct. 16 due to the
lapse in Congressional appropria-
tions.
"We are very pleased that we
have again opened the three Na-
tional Park Service areas in North
Dakota to visitors," said North
Dakota Group Superintendent Va-
lerie Naylor. "This is a great time
of year to see the last of the fall col-
ors, fascinating history and out-
standing wildlife."

Genevieve Agnes Marciniak
BEACH Genevieve Agnes
Marciniak, 86, of Beach, formerly of
Wibaux, Mont., died at her home in
Beach.
Jesus Christ was Genny's Lord
and Savior. She looked forward to
someday being with him in heaven.
When she didn't feel well she was
asked "Do you want to go any-
where?" She replied "I Just want to
go home to be with the Lord." The
Lord took her home on Tuesday, Oct.
15, 2013. Visitation 1-5 p.m. and
from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at
the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in
Wibaux and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Wibaux
Bible Church in Wibaux. Funeral
services were at 10:30 a.m. on Satur-
day, Oct. 19, at the Wibaux Bible
Church in Wibaux with Pastor Rick
Vamum officiating. Interment was at
St. Philip's Cemetery in St. Philips,
Mont. Silvernale-Silha Funeral
Home of Wibaux was entrusted with
the arrangements.
Genevieve was born on Jan. 4,
1927, on a farm north of Beach, a
daughter of Frank and Julie (Dvorak)
Tosner. She received her education
in rural schools in Little Beaver and
Bonnieview schools north of Beach
and one year in Beach.
Genny worked at Gordon's Bak-
ery in Beach for over two years and
in Ozzie's Caf6 in Wibaux for one
year in 1947.
Genny met and later married John
Marciniak Jr. on Jan. 27, 1948, at St.
Philip's Catholic Church. They lived
on a farm and ranch south of Wibaux.
To this union six children were born.
She was very active at St. Philip's
Catholic Church, teaching religious
classes for many years and was sec-
retary-treasurer for the Rosary Soci-
ety for four years. When she moved
into town after her husband passed
away she attended St. Peter's
Catholic Church and later became a
member of the Wibaux Bible Church
in 2009.
Genny moved to the Golden Val-
ley Manor on Sept. 10, 2013. In the
short time she was there she had the
opportunity to get reacquainted with
some childhood friends. The fellow-
ship she had there brought her joy.
Genny was a faithful wife, mother
and grandmother, sometimes work-
ing late into the night to be ready for
company the next day. Her grand-
children especially enjoyed the deli-
cious buns she made for special
occasions.
Genny was preceded in death by
her husband, John; two sons, Johnny
and Richard Marciniak; her parents;
