Designated week
a reminder of bus
safety
By Ellen Feuerheim
Reporter
School bus safety has been on
the mind of several Billings County
families whose children have to
walk across U.S. Highway 85.
Bus driver JoAnn Kessel writes
plates down lrom vehicles that con-
stanfly go around flashing lights and
expose children to danger.
Avoid harm obey the stop arm. is
the theme for 2009 school bus safe-
ty week. according to the American
School Bus Council. This is the
43rd annual school bus safety week
and the council is asking all people
to be alert while driving. Early
morning makeup at the stop sign or
text messaging friends may put stu-
dents at risk on the roadways.
The American School Bus
Council, located in Washington D.
C.. noted that parents incorrectly
believe a car driven by an adult is
the safest wav for kids to arrive at
school,
"Parents deserve to be intormed
that the yellow school bus has been
found by the National Academy of
Sciences and U.S. Department of
Transportation to be the safest way
to transport students." said William
Tousley, National Association of
Pupil Transportation president.

Kenseth started the 2005 season with relatively
poor finishes but finished seventh in the final
