This is the 43rd annual school bus safety week and the council is asking all people to be alert while driving. Early morning makeup at the stop sign or text messaging friends may put stu- dents at risk on the roadways. The American School Bus Council, located in Washington D. C.. noted that parents incorrectly believe a car driven by an adult is the safest wav for kids to arrive at school, "Parents deserve to be intormed that the yellow school bus has been found by the National Academy of Sciences and U.S. Department of Transportation to be the safest way to transport students." said William Tousley, National Association of Pupil Transportation president.
