at one time Deputy Register of
Deeds in Golden Valley county.

and her mother, Mrs. Slaminsks,
visited Thursday P. M. with Mrs.
Della Kukowski.
Miss Olga Moyer arrived Satur-
day from Seattle, Washington,

where she has been visiting for
three weeks.

were guests of Leonard and Mer-

Marvin Bartholomew has received
an honorable discharge from the
Army, and arrived in Beach Wed-
nesday evening from Fort Warren,

ingham, Washington. accompany-
ing Mrs. Elizabeth Carew, age 82,

mer in North Dakota visiting at
the home of her son, William

returning to her home in Wash-

RAISE LARGE POTATOES
Golden Valley county can re~
raise potatoes, both for qualtt~ahd
size. This week Mrs. Dick Pendle-
ton from north of Sentinel Butte
brought the *Golden Valley News
/office a sample of their 1943 potato
crop, and for tubers they take
the prize. Four potatoes make over
half a peek, the largest weighing
three pounds and the second larg-
est 2¼ pounds. We have still to
see the largest pumpkin, but if
pumpkins grow as large in pro-
portion as some of the other vege-
tables we have seen. we may have
to enlarge our office display win-
dow. Who's next?

Seventeen people were hospitaliz-
ed at the Johnstone Memorial
, Hospital during the past week.
Those hospitalized for treatment

tober 7-8; Carl Sorenson, Beach,
brought in October 7; Mrs. Earl
Hlgby, Carlyle, who came in Octo-
ber 10; Mrs. Emma Beeler, Wlbaux,
Mrs. Marie Conway, Medora. Mrs.
Ed. Klake. Wibaux, and Harold
Olson, Golva, all hospitalized on
October 11.

Among the graduates of the Big
Spring Army Air Field Advanced
Bombardier School at Big Spring,
Texas on Thursday, October 7th,
was a local boy, John Thomas
(Tommy) Hudson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. T. E. Hudson of Beach.
Tommy received his wings and was
made a flight officer in the Air
corp. He came to Beach Saturday
to spend a short furlough. Mrs.
Hudson and new son, who make
their home in Glendive, came to
Beach on Friday and are guests
at the T. E. Hudson home.
