Leonhard F. Feldmann
BEACH Leonhard F.
Feldmann, 93, of Beach, passed
away on Sunday morning, Sept. 4,
2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Dickinson.
Visitation was held from 1-5
p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at the
Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in
Beach. Funeral services were held
at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, at
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Beach, with the Rev. James
Hagemen officiating. Immediately
following the service at the church a
luncheon was held in the church
basement. A graveside service was
held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12,
in the Dawson County Cemetery in
Glendive, Mont. Silvernale-Silha
Funeral Home of Beach was
entrusted with the arrangements.
Leonhard Frederick Feldmann
was born on Sept. 8 1917, the old-
est son of Earnest and Theresa
(Luhr) Feldmann. Leonhard lived
his young life on the family farm, 5
V2 miles southeast of Beach and
attended Chandler country school
through the eighth grade. From
early childhood, he worked with his
dad, learning the family businesses
of farming and carpentry. Since
1936, many houses and other build-
ings throughout the Beach and
Wibaux, Mont., areas were built or
remodeled by Feldrhann
Construction.
Leonhard was baptized and con-
firmed at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church in Beach, and later in life he
moved his membership to Our
Savior Lutheran Church in
Glendive. He was active on boards
and other capacities in both congre-
. gations.
He enjoyed leisure activities of
rollerskating, square dancing and
violin playing. Leonhard married
Hedwig "Heddy" M. Hupke on'Oct.
26, 1941, and the couple settled on
their farm 1 ½ miles southwest of
Beach. Leonhard and Hedwig were
blessed with two daughters,
Shannon "Dolly" and Karlice
"Candy" and one son. Gerald
"Jerry," and six grandchildren.
Leonhard's great-grandchildren
numbered four great-granddaugh-
ters, 10 great-grandsons, and three
step-great-grandsons.
Leonhard was preceded in death
by his wife, Heddy; his parents; two
sisters; one brother; one grand-
daughter; and dne great-grandson.
Leonhard is survived by one
brother, Ervin of Foam Lake,
Canada; two sisters, Cord Courteau
of Midland, Mich.; and Dena
Feldmann of Beach; daughters,
Shannon Evans of Wilmington,
N.C.; and Karlice Valencia of
Albuquerque, N,M.; son, Gerald
(Barbara) Feldmann of Beach two
granddaughters. Melody Joy Evans
of Wilmington and Deanna (Trevor)
Kay of Gillette, Wyo.: three grand-
sons, Edward (Sharon) Evans of
Wilmington, Mark Feldmann of
Minneapolis, Minn.; and David
(Christina) Feldmann of Beach; 13
great-grandchildren; and three step-
great-grandchildren.
