New Guinea where U. S. paratroopers have been figuring prominently in the important gains. In this in-
stance, a member of the parachute infantry goes sliding through the heavy ooze of Noemfoor Island, off the
northeast New Guinea coast, trailing his collapsed 'chute. Other invaders from the sky can be seen dropping

NAZIS LEARN TO SAY 'L; CLE' TO UNCLE SAM'S BOYS
BY THE HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS, the German troops from Avranches to Rennes and to the coastal tip of
Brest have been surrendering as the U. S. forces raced across the Breton Peninsula with a tank-and-man
smash that will not soon be forgotten. With hands on heads, the big parade of e~emy prisoners marches
directly into the camera. This is but one of many similar pageants of defeat, being enacted at Brest, St.

Exponent of Swing
YES SIR, it seems that Tommy Dor-
sey is right there with the swing
and the upbeat. At one of those
quiet Hollywood parties--this time
at the home of Maestro Dorsey--am
argument concerning the proprie-
ties arose between Dorsey and
handsome Jon Hall. Dorsey's lovely
wife Pat Dane, shown with him
above, became offended and when
the fisticuffing was over M. Hall
needed attention. (International)
