Official paper of the City of Beach and of Golden Talley county i i Tragedy at Point Barrow fill Seldom does the public feel the shock of tragedy as keenly as was the case when news of the fatal accident : Which took the lives of Will Rogers and Wiley Post spread the country. One man had been the symbol of the human traits of American character which pre- our national sanity; the other a symbol of the dar- audacious traits which should make America uncon,- uerable. Rogers and Post made for themselves places which resplendent in our world of hero worship. Both had , |risen from good, plain stock. Both had achieved world- 1011t Wide fame in their undertaking; and through it all both oral had preserved the homely, commonplace, lovable, livable ~cief a" i|~:Virtuesi • which strike" in other Americans a note of admira- li~:| t ion that is warm and healing. |i For ears Rogers'readily loaned his in,imitable tal- Y ul~ lents to projects of public benefit.
