Rella Abemethy and Sally Aber-
nethy left for Belgrade, Mont., Friday,
July 19, to attend a wedding reception
for Rella's grandson and wife, Marly
and Kari Hansen, who were married in
November in Oregon. Marty is the son
of Marvin and Bobbi Hansen of Bel-
grade. The reception was held on Sat-
urday, and some of the guests included
Jim Cook, Sandy Pearcy, Tyler and
Julie Cook, Colleen Cook and Rudy
Bar!!nell!, and Chuck and Bonnie
Jones. Rella and Sally returned home
from the festivities on Monday.
On Wednesday evening, Barry and
Nancy Schafer, Bryce Schafer and
friend Jenna, and archeologists Bruce
and Lisa Huckell, Christina Sinkovec,
and Gary and Heather Vaughn were in-
vited to Rella's for supper. On Thurs-
day, Rella, Nancy and Barry, Bruce
and Lisa, and Christina drove to
Wibaux for supper at the Shamrock
Club.
Gloria Soule from Hazelton and
daughter Lynette from Underwood ar-
rived Saturday at the home of Jim and
Marj Wyckoff, and stayed
overnight. The following day, the
ladies joined in with the family as they
celebrated Jim's birthday. Tom and
Lynn, and daughter Kaitlynn Wyckoff,
and Lois Walker, all from Dickinson,
were on hand as well for the small
party.
Mary Cook and her daughter Jane
took a short trip to Glendive on Thurs-
day, and on the way home, stopped in
Wibaux to visit with Mary's sister
Irene Bakken and Bob Job.
From the pages of the Sentinel
Butte Republican, 100 years ago, July
31, 1913:
It is reported that in some pats of
the state where groves of trees have
been put out, and which afford shelter,
that in their vicinity, the crops have not
suffered nearly as much from hot
weather as in districts where trees are
scarce.
Lewis F. Crawford received a con-
signment of sunbeam trout and perch
from the State Hatchery in St. John this
week. Three cans were delivered and
the fish were planted in the Sentinel
Butte lake, one in Kellogg pond, one
in Beaver Creek, and three in Knutson
Creek.
Nine North Dakota opium joints,
raided during this week's campaign of
the postal men, revealed big plants of
the drug, but the prisoners have refused
to divulge their sources of supply.
Golva News sy Shirley Schulte
On Saturday evening, a group
gathered at the home of Lori and Jim
Schulte for a potluck pizza party. Oth-
ers attending were Kayla Howard,
Landon Lechler, Clara Portscheller,
Delbert and Jean Schulte from Glen-
dive, Jerry and Susan Erlenbusch
from Circle and Larry and Shirley
Schulte. At the center of attention was
the "kitty litter cake" baked and
brought by Susan Erlenbusch (at the
request of Kayla, egged on a bit by
uncle Jerry.) It tasted delicious, but
didn't look very appetizing. Tootsie
Rolls taste good no matter how gross
they look.
The big white combine that went
through Hebron this past week wiped
out what Darrel Schulte described as
the best corn crop he has ever raised.
The stalks were stripped bare and
knocked down, but even sadder was
seeing the new home of Brian and
Tanya Glass looking like someone
had taken a machine gun and riddled
the siding, broke out windows and lit-
terly left a mess.
Mary Lee Schmitz drove to Bis-
marck to attend the softball tourna-
ment that her granddaughters Emmery
and Peyton Schmitz were participat-
ing in. She stayed with her son Je-
remy's family, and then on Monday,
she surprised her sister Arlene Abra-
ham at her workplace.
Carol Marrs from Bismarck has
been visiting her sisters Doris arm
Mike Berger and Charlene and Lee
Weinreis. The ladies went to Beach
on Thursday to visit with Julie Ann
Thoemke, Weinie Barthel and Katy
Zinsli. They also spent time at the
Page Two and B ... Inspired shops.
Carol enjoys antiques, and the ladies
had a good time visiting/and looking
at the inventory in both shops. They
stopped to visit Christine Finneman
on the way back to Golva from Beach.
James and Elaine Kremers accom-
panied Henry and Lisa Gerving to
Fort Collins, Colo., where they deliv-
ered a car to Brandon Gerving, and
then they drove on to Longmont,
Colo., where they visited with Walt
and Leona Krueger. Both Walt and
Leona will be remembered by the
"older generation" in this area. Walt
grew up in the Carlyle, Mont., area.
Leona is the former Leona Kremers, a
sister to James. They moved to Long-
mont in 1952.

of service.
Monday morning Bible Study
began at 10:30. Dennis and
Melanie Nunberg from Bismarck
visited with Ted and Jowayne Nun-
berg. Sis and Donna took a break
from sewing quilts to go outside to
pull weeds. After a while they got
so hot they played in the water?
We began our Tuesday morning
with exercises at 9:45 followed by
Adoration. Most of us made our
way down to the Activity Room at
2 p.m. for our favorite game of
bingo. We played a few games,
won our bananas and other prizes,
then mozied on down to our rooms
to wait for supper. Jess!ca Savini
visited with Becky from vocational
rehabilitiation and Mark from So-
cial Security. She learned how to
play pinochle this week. Carol
Finneman Maus, of Bismarck, and
Doris Berger came to visit Florence
Finneman.

Marlene and Bethine at 2 p.m. lr
