Beach 'Wins Two Out Of Three Games During Past

Fairview; Lose To
Glendive
During the past week the local
baseball teazn put in some active
work, playing three different gaines.
and coming out winner in two of
them On Wednesday, July 3, Beach
played Oolva there as part of. the
big celebration there. ~nd come out
on the long end of a 16 to 2 score.,
Beach had little trouble connecting
with the ball ~nd won quite handily.
In this game they were a,ided by a
young pitcher from Dickinson. On
the following day, the 4th, Beach par-
ticipated in a tournament at Glendive
e~nd drew Glendive for their oppon
ont. They were defeated by Glendive
10 to 2. Then last Sunday they journ-
eyed to Pairview to play a regUlar
scheduled Lower Yellowstone League
game. and the hottest contest of the.
year resulted, with Beach finally win-
ning 8 to 7, after a thirteen inning
battle, At the close of the regular
nine innings of play. the score was]
tied at 6-all. Fairview making five]
runs in the innth to tie the score th~
or Beach had led practically all
time until then. In the tenth Vuughan
Morris clouted a home run for Beach.
but Pairview also pushed over a run
to again tie the count. The eleventh
and twelfth were scoreless, but in
the tblrteenth Morris again came
through with a long hit good for three
bases, and scored on Ralph Jones
saerifice fly, ~tving Beaeh a one-run
mar~in of victory.
Next Sunday Glendive eom~,s t~
Bea~ch for another league game, and
a real battle is assured. Beach is anx-
ious to avenge the defeat banded

The Minnesotans. a dance band un-
der the direction of Lauren Conzet.
who appeared here this spring at
Evergreen Park, will be here for a
return engagement again this week,
Friday. July ]2. and indications point
t,~ a fine crowd, qs this band made
an unusually good 'hit' when they
played here before.
