the previous week to 470 with oil rigs
up eight to 373, gas rigs up one to 97,
and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at
zero. ,

previous week to 117, with oil rigs up
15 to 74, gas rigs up nine to 43.

Spill: . ,
The North Dakota Department of
‘ Environmental Quality was notified
of a produced water spill from a
pipeline operated by Denbury On-
shore L.L.C. in Bowman County on
June 21.
Initial reports estimate 550 bar-
rels (23,100 gallons) of produced
water were released, an undeter-‘
,mined amount of which entered
Skull Creek. Due to drought condi-
tions, parts of Skull Creek are dry,
isolating the spill.
Produced water is a byproduct of
, ‘ oil production. The cause of the spill

killed in a motorcycle crash on Sunday, June 13, near Williston as Cole
Larmer, 29, of Williston.

Pronghorn survey planned
The North Dakota Game and Fish Department’s annual aerial pronghom
survey Will begin July 1 and is scheduled to be completed within two weeks.
During the survey period, small airplanes will sometimes fly low over
some parts of western North Dakota.
The survey determines pronghom abundance, herd demographics and
fawn production. This data is used to set the number of licenses for the
fall
hunting season.
