As home- steaders flocked to the area, local businessmen seeing a need to clean up the town and improve water and sewer services pushed for incorporation of the town. Voters approved incorporation on April 17, 1911. The list of events for the centen- nial weekend include: - Friday, July 1: a home run derby at 5 p.m. at the softball field, and a wine fest and art auction at 7 - Saturday, July 2: Fun run and mini-marathon at 8 a.m., starting at the fairgrounds 'and concluding with a 10 a.m. breakfast for run partici- pants at the nursing home; an open house and silent auction of obsolete school items at the Wibaux Elementary School Gym from 9 a.m. to noon; a craft show in the for- mer Just Your Era Antiques store from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; a horseshoe tourney in the park starting at 1 p.m.; face painting in the park from 2 to 4 p.m.; an ice cream social at the museum from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; a community/all school reunion fairgrounds exhibit hall; and a street dance from 9 p,m. to 1 a.m. on the north side of the museum. The exhibit hall will also be open for class reunions from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Sunday, July 3: community breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church; craft show at the former Just Your Era Antique store from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a parade through downtown at 11 a.m.; a performance by Alte Kameraden, an oompa band from Red Lodge and Billings, from 12:30 Kevin Quade/Tim Dschaak Memorial Bump'n Run at 2 p.m. at the fairgrounds; and an old time phot o show from 1-5 at the fair- grounds exhibit hall. The parade will line up at 10:30 a.m. in front of the nursing home. - Monday, July 4: Great Falls author Richard Baker will give a presentation "An Afternoon with Pierre Cruzatte's Ghost" at 12:30 p.m. at the Pierre Wibaux Museum, followed by a speech from House District 38 Rep. Nathan Dahl Dahl earns doctor of pharmacy degree ERIE, Pa. - Nathan Dahl of Beach earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy on Sunday, May 29, at the Louis J. Tulio Arena in Erie, Pa. The college awarded profession- al degrees to 124 pharmacy stu- dents. On Tuesday of commence- ment week, Dahl was awarded the LECOM School of Pharmacy Academic Excellence Award for graduating top of his class. Dr. Dahl has accepted employ- ment and will start in July as a hos- pital pharmacist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He is the son of Jonathan and Rosemary Dahl. of Beach. Sunny days ease concern By Richard Volesky Editor/Reporter A few sunny days in between rain have meant the problem of ris- ing water in Beach's sewage .lag°°ns has eased. The city of Beach also was able to discharge wastewater from the third lagoon cell - the cell located furthest to the east - which includes treated water. The city obtained a discharge permit from the North Dakota Department of Health. The wastewater goes into a nearby drainage ditch and flows northwest- erly toward Highway 10. A water sample from the lagoon cell showed that the water met the standards for suspended solids, ph, and oxygen levels, said Dell Beach, the city's public works superintend- ent. There had been concerns that too much groundwater was getting into the sanitary sewer system, and that residents were improperly dis- charging water from sump pumps into the system.
