input is reported as part of our com-
pleted plan, and this plan is available at
the high school district Office or upon re-

Kim Nunberg, Brandt Gaugler and
Troy Hoffer were absent.
President Makelky called the meet-
ing to order at 6:00 p.m. Makelky rec-
ognized visitors.
Helvik presented the 3-5 year de-
mographic plan as part of the public
forum for the Beach School District and
possible impacts on academic, ex-
tracurricular programs, instructional and
administrative staffing, facility needs
and utilization, and district tax levies.
Discussion. Motion by Hardy, second
by Sperry to adopt the plan. Roll call
vote carries unanimously. The demo-
graphic plan will be available at the high
school office.
Makelky called approval of the
agenda. Discussion. Motion by Sperry,
second by Hardy to approve agenda.

regular meeting minutes and May 27,
2014 special meeting minutes. Motion
by Sperry, second by Johnson to ap-

the most votes for the city seat with 28
votes. Jeanne Larson will take over
Maurice Hardy's city seat on July 1,
2014. Motion by Sperry, second by
Hardy to approve canvassing of elec-
tion results. Roll call vote carries unan-
imously.

• Thank you from Carla Steffen for
the years of service award.

• Stateline Property LLC has pro-
gressed with the two duplex units which
are scheduled to arrive in July. Discus-
sion.
• Ubl Design has been contacted re-
garding the elementary, addition. Dis-
cussion. The project has had a delay in
the variance with the city of Beach and
a public meeting needed to be sched-
uled. The classrooms wil probably not
be finished by the start of the 2014-
2015 school year. Discussion.
Helvik presented unfinished busi-
ness.
• • Policy Ponderings publication was
distributed and reviewed.
Helvik presented finances.
• Helvik requested approval to pay
end of fiscal year bills out of the 2013-
2014 budget with bills paid being pre-
sented at the July meeting. Motion by
Johnson, second by Hardy to allow the
business office to pay bills prior to June
30. 2014 and present at the July meet-
ing. Roll call vote carries unanimously.
• Helvik presented recommendation
from Jim Wosepka to encumber funds
for bills not paid by June 30. 2014 due
to the construction of the duplexes
which are all in the process of being
completed. Motion by Hardy, second by
Sperry to pass a resolution to encum-
ber funds for whatever portion not paid
by June 30, 2014 out of the 2014-2015
general fund budget for the duplex con-
struction. Total amount to be encum-
bered is $881,080.00. Note:
Encumbrances is a fund balance re-
serve. Roll call vote carries' unani-
mously.

• All teaching contracts have been
signedand returned except Rosemary
Dahl and Shae Peplinski. Deadline for
teacher contracts is June 13, 2014. Dis-
cussion.
• Open teaching positions, parapro-
fessional positions ar]d other possible
open positions were discussed.
• Raise for activity bus driver for trips
to Golva was inadvertently omitted for
an increase for the 2014-2015 school
year. Discussion. Motion by Hardy, sec-
ond by Johnson to approve a $3.00 in-
crease per trip to Golva from $27.50 per
trip to $30.50 per trip. Roll call vote car-
ries unanimously.
• Rosemary Dahl did not accept the
$1,500 raise offered by th board for
the technology coordinator contract and
is asking for more money. Dahl met with
Nunberg and Hardy prior to the meet-
ing and,indicated she would like a
$3,000 raise for technology coordinator.
Discussion. Dahl will not be signing the
Business Challenge contract as the
program is not being offered at Dickin-
son State University. Discussion. Mo-
tion by Johnson, second by Sperry to
offer a $3,000 raise for technology co-
ordinator. Roll call vote carries unani-
mously.
• Hardy distributed information and
discussed board salaries for the 2014-
2015 school year. Discussion. Motion
by Hardy, second by Johnson to ap-
prove a $20 per month increase for the
board president, a $10 per month in-
crease forthe vice president, a first
term board member salary of $300 per
month, a second term board member
salary of $325 per month, a third year
and any more consecutive year board
member salary of $350 per month, and
a 50% reduction in any salary for the
month for missing the regular monthly
meeting. Discussion. Roll call vote car-
ries unanimously.
Famstrom presented business man-
ager report.
• Audit engagement letter from Jim
Wosepka CPA was presented. Audit is
scheduled for the week of August 4,
2014. Discussion. Consensus of the
board is to have Jim Wosepka CPA
complete the audit.
• Securities pledged from Bank of
the West and First State Bank were dis-
tributed and reviewed. Discussion. Mo-
tion by Hardy, second by Sperry to
approve securities pledged. Roll call
vote carries unanimously.
Helvik presented superintendent re-
port.
• Letter from Honeywell discussing
the savings from the energy guarantee
program.
• Letter from ND Attorney General
regarding the fire safety inspection was
discussed.
• Recall on MCI bus part was dis-
cussed.
• Area schools health insurance for
classified staff was reviewed and dis-
cussed.
Makelky called for a motion to ad-
journ. Motion by Sperry, second by
Hardy to adjourn. Makelky adjourned
7:11 p.m.

Walter Losinski on June 2, 2014 at 7:00
pm. Present when the meeting was

Public Works Report
PWS Braden reported on the fpllow-
ing; street sweeping and repairs, the
North water tower is being filled, all sea-
sonal employees have been hired, curb
side grass collection is on Wednesday
and one of the city crew is working to
get licensed for spraying mosquitos.
Braden mentioned the lease on the
Loader expires this month. Benes
moved to approve trade in on the loader
with a difference of $22,800, second by
Gerving. Motion carried unanimously.
Auditor Report:
Nunberg reviewed her written report.
Benes moved to approve direct deposit
for payroll, second by Larson. Motion
carried unanimously.
