Saturday, April 25. at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Fu- neral Home jn Beach. with Chaplain Burnie Kunz officiating. The eulogy will be conducted by Chuck Mar- dian. Mike's nephew. Eli Plunkett. wilt recite a poem he wrote in mem- ory of Mike. Donald Hustad and Wayne Eschenbacher will serve as urn bearers. Darren Eschenbacher. Bill Gable. Randy St. Pierre. and Brian Gregolre will serve as hon- orary urn bearers. Interment will fol- low in the South Side Cemetery at the Gasho farm north of Beach. Sil- vernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrange- ments. Mike was born Nov. 13. 1959. in Wolf Point. Mont.. the son of the late Charles Allen Nitschke and Colleen Joanne (Eschenbacher) Nitschke (now Colleen Gasho). He grew up on Glasgow Airbase and attended school in Glasgow. Mont. Mike and his mother later relocated to Sidney, Mont.. where he completed his edu- cation. Mike worked for several years on oil rig crews and at Big B Muf- fler in Sidney. He married Sonja Samuelson and relocated to Idaho. When the couple divorced, he traveled throughout the United States for nearly 10 years and fi- nally returned to his family on the Gasho Ranch in Beach. Mike worked as a cook at the Dairy Queen in Beach and lived and worked on a ranch helping with livestock, crops and all types of farm chores. He also worked in Golva for a couple of years as a janitor for the town - a job he truly enjoyed. Mike later moved to the Bismarck-Mandan area where he began hauling mail. It was a job he excelled at and received honors for his work. He was in the process of obtaining a CDL. which brought him great joy. Mike had many interests includ- ing driving truck, watching Nascar and football, cooking, playing cards. and playing jokes on people. Mike will most surely be missed by his family and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father. Charles Allen Nitschke: his grandfather. John Nitschke and his grandfather. William "Bill" Es- chenbacher: his uncle. Kenny Es- chenbacher: his aunt. Luella Shumway; and his cousin. David Es- chenbacher. Mike is survived by his mother. Colleen Gasho and her husband Harlan of Beach; his sister. Renee (Osborn) Plunkett: his nephew. Eli Plunkett: his ex-stepfather. Ronald Osborn all of Watertown, S.D.: his aunt and uncle, Betty and Leonard Hustad of Bainville. Mont.; his uncle. Dale Eschenbacher of Sav- age, Mont.: his aunt. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrange- ments. Don was born on Dec. 24. 1932. in Beach. the son of Lloyd E. and Mazie D. (Mott) Sparks. He was raised and educated in Beach. N.D.. and San Diego, Calif., re- ceiving his high school diploma in San Diego. He entered the United States Air Force on Sept. 25, 1951. at Fargo, serving in Newfoundland and at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D. After his dis- charge, he returned to Beach where he worked for Golden Val- ley Lumber. Don was married to Pauline Gtover in November 1968. He re- turned to California and worked for Rhor Aircraft in Chula Vista. Calif. He moved to Renton. Wash.. where he worked for Boeing Air- craft for two years. He later re- turned to Riverside. Calif., and worked for Rhor aircraft and then lor Lockheed Aircraft from which he retired in 1988. He moved back to Beach and bought a home in the Child Abuse Prevention Month North Dakota Becky Lea Beach Coisman early 1990s. where he. has resided since. Don was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed playing with electric trains. He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife. Pauline: two brothers. Ronald and Robert Sparks: and two sisters. Beverly Ueckert and Martha Bolton. He is survived bv his brother. Timothy Sparks and his wife Con- nie of Redlands. Calif.; his sister. Mont, - Funeral services for Becky Lea Beach Co- isman. 36. of Rapid City, S.D.. formerly of Ekalaka. Mont.. were at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 20. 2009. at the Carter County High School Gymnasium in Ekalaka, with Jim Hendrick s officiating. In- terment followed in the Beaver Lodge Cemetery at Ekalaka. Vis- itation was from 3- 9 p.m. on Sun- day, April 19. at Stevenson Funeral in Ek laka with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thirty-six short years ago, Keith and Ellen (Knipfer) Beach welcomed the first member of their family, Becky Lea into this world. She was later joined by a sister, Jeanie Marie. and a brother. Brian Keith. Becky left this world for her heavenly home on April 12, upon returning to the house after a full day of ranch work at her parents' home. Her presence here on earth was ended in an instant with her two precious little girls at her side. Becky was born in 1972, in Ekalaka. on May 25. a date that would later be shared by her spe- cial niece, Mariah Moran. She at- tended elementary school there and graduated from Carter County High School in 1990. During these years, she was actively de- voted to 4-H and FFA activities. She went on to judge livestock for Powell Community College in Wyoming, and then corn pleted her secondary education at Presenta- tion College in Aberdeen, S.D. She graduated with honors and a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She began her career in home health care then worked at the Ashley Medical Center and finally Rapid City Regional Medical Center. Though she loved the ex- citement of the medical field, her passion and joy always came from her family and the ranch. On Feb. 23. 2002, she sang her way into the heart of David Allen Coisman. Mr. and Mrs. Coisman operated the Yellowstone Trail Cafd and Tavern in Ipswich. S.D.. until the fall of 2002. when they moved to their current residence in Rapid City. S.D. On July 14. 2006. the biggest goal of Becky's life was achieved as she gave birth to her precious princesses. Shaylee Marie and Savannah Rose. Though they arrived eight weeks early, Becky nurtured them through prematurity, heart compli- cations and surgery and lately the tremendous twos. She tended to every detail in their delicate little lives and per- severed to show them her strengths, wisdom and love of family as well as the Lord. Answer:Your friend can open his Beach Baseball will host a free Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch. Hit & Run Competition for area youth on April 25 at 1:30 p.m. at the Beach Legion Field. Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This progrmn is designed to provide youngsters with an opportu- nity to compete free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individ- ual excellence in core baseball skills. Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7-8.9-10.11-12, and 13-14. and have the chance to ad- vance through four levels of compe- tition, including team championships at Major League ballparks and the national finals at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game. The individual pitching, hitting and running champions, along with the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition, will be awarded and advance to a sec- tional level of competition. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Producers can use Livestock Indemnity Program Last season's snowstorms and se- vere spring flooding have been hard on livestock producers, especially at the end of calving season. "Thankfully, the 2008 Farm Bill includes a Livestock Indemnity Pro- gram that promises to compensate producers who. due to severe ice storms and flooding, have suffered more than anticipated average live- stock losses," said Robert Carlson. president of North Dakota Farmers Union. The Livestock Indemnity Pro- gram is administrated by the Farm Service Agency. A notice of loss must be filed within 30 days of the loss with FSA. Proof of death must be provided in the form of private insurance documents, veterinary records, rendering truck receipts, or National Guard receipts of carcass removal. Documentation must in- clude information on the kind. type, and weight of livestock. The program covers beef and dairy cattle, bison, sheep, hogs, and other livestock. No state or federal designation is required to trigger the program. Pro- ducers who have questions about the program are encouraged to contact their local FSA office or go to www.fsa.usda.gov/nd and enter LIP in the search box to obtain more in- formation. Decorating contest h Easter eggs were brought in to the Beach American Legion Club for a decorating contest on Good Friday, and those who were present at the club that evening were invited to vote for their favorite egg. Three categories were chosen, so that three participants received Id prizes. They were: Leone Van Vleet. winning a large bottle of wine for the judges category: Jane Cook, win- ning a steak and shrimp dinner for two for the people's choice category, and Gloria Ueckert. winning a small bottle of wine for the consolation category.
