The regular meeting of the Billings
County School Board was called to
order at 5:30 PM MT, Wednesday,
February 8, 2012, at the DeMores

to approve the consent agenda, which

The interwew committee recom-
mended hiring Maria Hutzenbiler for
the part time preschool aide position in
Medora. Kessel moved. Burian sec-
onded, to offer the position to
Hutzenbiler pending a satisfactory
background check. The motion car,
ried unanimously.
After discussing the portable gen-
erator, Rodne moved, Baranko sec-
onded, to sell the generator to Billings
County for $10. but retain the trailer for
the District's use. The motion carried
unanimously.
The Board briefly discussed
whether family transportation was due
for an elementary student open
enrolled out of district. It was deter,
mined that the student would have bus
service to their yard if they attended
school in the
District. so payment for family
transportation is not warranted.
Principal Soehren reported on the
following: school improvement
process. ND Elementary Principal's
conference she attended in Grand
Forks, NWEA and Dibels testing, State
Assessments report, and that she is
now requiring visitors to sign in and out
at the offices at the schools.
Zane Krivoruchka and Josh Kessel
met with the Board to request assis-
tance with the cost of attending Close-
Up as participants from South Heart
School. Baranko moved to approve
25% of the cost as per the Board's
guidelines.
Rodne seconded the motion and it
carried unanimously.
After a change was made in policy
ACEA, Rodne moved, Burian second-
ed, to approve the first reading. The
motion carried unanimously.
Burian will be the Board's repre,
sentative to Belfield's meeting.
Kessel moved, Baranko seconded.
to allow an employee to take addition-
al emergency leave days from sick
leave since she had used her three
days emergency leave and all her per-
sonal leave. The motion.carried una n-
imously.
After discussing a request for the
use of Prairie School for a post gradu-
ation party, Burian moved, Rodne sec-
onded, to deny the request. The
motion carried unanimously.
A letter of resignation from Marcia
Pool was read. Baranko moved,
Burian seconded, to accept her resig-
nation with regret. The motion carried
unanimously,
Rodne moved Kessel seconded,
to accept the petition of the Billings
County Teachers Association to waive
the formal negotiations process and
negotiate informally with the Board. If
an agreement cannot be reached in
this manner, they will revert to formal
negotiations. The motion carried
unanimously.
