(Courtesy Photo) Lady Bucs win No. 15 by downing Tigers NEW ENGLAND - The Beach Buccaneers again had four players in double figures led by Kelcee Dykins' 26 points to pick up their 15th win of the season. Along with her 26 points, Kelcee grabbed nine rebounds in the win 75-35. Three other players scored in double figures with Hailee Farstveet collecting another double-double, netting 13 points and 11 rebounds. Channa Clarin was next in line with a career high of 12 points. Channa began the game high in the air to get the first touch of the game ball by getting the opening tip of the game. She was also the last by grabbing a missed shot in the air by Ashlynn Dietz and tipping it in at the final buzzer. Her teammates sprinted to her side with smiling faces as if they all had won a cham- pionship game and she made the game winning shot. The Running Bucs came out on fire with all five starters getting into the score book. Kelcee Dykins and Hailee Farstveet led the 25-point surge combining for 16 of the 25 point quarter. Bailey Waldal, Channa Clarin and Cydni Stedman combined for the other nine points. It was a very unselfish effort with good passes resulting into baskets. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were also good quarters, with the Buccaneers continuing their domi- nance with substitutions going in and out of the game. Although they did not put many points on the scoreboard, they did provide good chemistry for their team, This chemistry is going to be important going into the upcoming post sea- son run. The fourth quarter was played evenly with Cydni Stedman leading all scorers with four points. Beach defeats Wibaux Going into the Tuesday, Feb. 8, game with the Longhorns, the Buccaneers knew that it was going to be a much different game from their last one in Beach. The Buccaneers answered with 18 points led by again, senior Kelcee Dykins, with nine points. The nice weather has been a good time for visitors to stop by and just mingle around stopping by to visit with several residents. Several families have come and celebrated their loved one's birthdays with a private gathering. We encour- age families to let us know, and we'll do what we can to help set up for your special event. It makes them feel like they Deanna Schneider came on Saturday to help her mother, Donna Sygulla, move to the Golden Valley Manor. We've put a thermometer out in front of the Nursing Home to help keep track of the donations. Our staff is collecting change in a big jug at the Nursing Home and can wear jeans on Mondays - as long as we contribute $2 to the fund. The cookbook is at the printers. We are hoping for delivery around the end of February or the first week in March. We will have a booth at the Health Fair in March to have our books on display. Any cookbooks that have been paid for may be picked up at the Health Fair. Otherwise, you will have to come to the Nursing Home to pay for your book. No money will be exchanged at the Fair. The cost of a book will be $15, and we are proud of the way our book has turned out. Remember, the recipes are from past and present residents and employees and we finished with over 350 recipes. The proceeds will go toward flooring projects at the Nursing Home. This year I am going to post memorials which have been given to the Nursing Home. The memorials can be designated for a specific cause, or placed in the Mom Keys Fun Fund - example purchases; special meals, birthday and Christmas presents, Mother's and Father's Day corsages and boutonnieres - just to name a few things. The Endowment Fund - monies are used to purchase things for the use of our residents we nor- mally couldn't purchase. Or some prefer the monies to go to something completely different. For instance, one family purchased more padded folding chairs to be used for visitors, while another preferred pictures for the hallways, or one family preferred the monies go toward something spe- cial for the staff. The memorials are very much appreciated and we put the funds toward whatever is requested. Robert and Dixie Justice gave a memorial in memory of Dorothy Adams, and R. Duane Mullet gave one in his mother's name Helen Mullet. We received information from the U.S. News and World Report that Wibaux County Nursing Home out of 15,500 homes is once again in the top 40 nationwide. What an honor.
