BISMARCK North Dakota
State Treasurer Kelly Schmidt has
launched a new website that is
bringing greater transparency to the
state's operating fund and other gov-
ernment fund balances.
The website, located
www.nd.gov/treasurer, displays the
current operating fund balance on
the home page. Additional operating
fund information displays daily de-
posits, withdrawals and balances
dating back six years.
"I have always believed the peo-
ple's treasury is the people's busi-
ness," said Schmidt. "This new
website raises the level of awareness
of state funds and their balances."
The website Provides the bal-
ances in the state's government
funds and Offers a search function
for revenue distributions to counties,
tribes, cities, school districts and
townships. "This information is
now readily available to anyone who
wants to find current fund values and
the distributions made to the state's
political subdivisions," said
Schmidt.
The North Dakota Office of State
Treasurer receives, reconciles and
disburses all state money and special
government funds. It provides a
"checks and balances" system for all
state agencies on a daily basis, of-
fering updated cash flow entries.
