The annual meeting of the Billings
County School Board was called to
order at 5:30 p.m. MT, Tuesday, July
17, 2012, at the DeMores School•
Present were members Stacey
Kessel, Darren Baranko, Tina
Downing, Paige Burian, Dean Rodne
and Principal Soehren. Also present
for all or portions of the meeting were
Scott Rask and his.daughter.
The business manager explained
she was making a clarification in the
June 19 minutes in regard to the
FCCLA payment. Burian moved,
Kessel seconded, to approve the con-
sent agenda, which included the min-
utes of the June 19 and 26 meetings
and the attached check list. The
motion carried unanimously.

The Board reviewed the business
manager's investment report and the
District Annual Financial Report pre-
sented by the business manager.
Rodne moved, Baranko seconded, to
approve the reports. The motion car-
ried unanimously.
Business Manager Mitchell pre-
sented the proposed expenditure and
revenue budget for 2012-13. Burian
moved to approve the proposed
2012-13 budget as presented.
Kessel seconded the motion, and it
carried unanimously.
The interview committee reported
they were recommending hiring Mafia
Hutzenbiler for the Special Ed. Para
position in Medora, and Nancy
Lombardi to replace Hutzenbiler as
the preschool aide in Medora.
Baranko moved, Kessel seconded, to
approve the interview committee's
recommendations. The motion car-
ried unanimously.
The business manager reported
Kaylene Jaeger had ultimately decid-
ed not to accept the assistant busi-
ness manager position. After discus-
sion, it was decided to re-advertize
the position, with clarification that the
person hired would be trained to
assume the business manager's posi-
tion upon her retirement.
A request from Arlinda O'Brien to
transfer her bus contract to Dennis
O'Brien was received. Baranko
moved, Rodne seconded, to approve
the transfer. The motion carried
unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned for
the 2011-12 year with Dean Rodne
leaving office. Rodne was presented
with a plaque in appreciation of his
13+ years of service on the school
board:
The meeting was called to order
for 2012-13. Newly appointed mem-
ber Lynn Arthaud was unable to
attend the meeting. Downing moved
to re-elect Baranko as president of
the Board. Kessel seconded the
motion and it carried unanimously.
Kessel moved to elect Burian as
vice president of the Board. Baranko
seconded the motion and it carried
unanimously.
None of the members present had
any conflicts of interest to report.
The business manager presented
the report of pledged assets from
First State Bank of Golva, which cur-
rently exceed the required amount.
Baranko moved, Burian seconded, to
approve the pledge of assets, and to
designate First State Bank of Golva
as depository for regular working
accounts, with investments to be
made through Great Plains National
Bank of Belfield, First State Bank of
Golva, or Piper Jaffray's public fund
investment program. The motion car-
ried unanimously.
Kessel moved, Downing second-
ed, to designate the Billings County
Pioneer as official newspaper for the
District, health care professionals at
Dickinson Clinic and Great Plains
Clinic for required physicals, and
Performance Truck Center, South
Heart Auto Service, Wallworks Diesel,
Nelson International and Harlow's for
DOT inspections of buses. The
motion carried unanimously.
Burian moved, Downing second-
ed, to re-appoint Stacey Kessel as
the Board's representative to the
Roughrider Educational Services
Partnership governing board. The
motion carried unanimously.
It was decided to reschedule the
August meeting to 5:30 p.m. Monday,
August 13, 2012.
Downing will be'e representative
to Belfield's August meeting.
Approval of the Consolidated
Application and Library Contract were
tabled until the next meeting.
A proposal from Johnson Controls
to service the HVAC systems at both
schools was reviewed. It was decid-
ed to find a local contractor to train
the maintenance person in servicing
the systems.
The meeting was adjourned at
6:50 p.m.

NOTICE FOR BIDS
Notice is hereby given that the
City of Beach is accepting sealed
bids at City Hall 153 Main Street PO
Box 278 Beach, ND 58621 on or
before August 20, 2012 at 5 pm for
the trenching and installation of a
water and sewer main project located
on 4th Avenue NW between 8th and
10th Street. All work is to be com-
pleted by November 1, 2012.
Engineering and all materials will be
supplied by the City of Beach.
Work includes;
Trenching of ditches, one for
sewer main and one for water main.
Installation of approximately 700' of 8"
PVC sewer pipe, approximately 700'
of 6" PVC pipe, 3 water service lines
approximately 180', 3 sewer service
lines approximately 180', 3 saddles, 3
compression corporation stops, 3
compression curb stops, 3 curb
boxes, 2 man holes, 1 fire hydrant, 2
push-on gate valves, 2 slip couplings
and 2 push-on T gaskets. All material
must be installed by a licensed ND
Installer or Master Plumber.
All bids should be contained in a
sealed envelope labeled Water &
Sewer Project on 4th Ave NW. A sep-
arate sealed envelope should contain
a copy of the Contractor's Water &
Sewer Installer License or Master
Plumbers License and Certificate of
Insurance.
Contracts shall be awarded on the
basis of the low bid submitted by a
responsible and responsive bidder.
Should the Contractor fail to complete
the work within the time required
herein or within such extra time as
may have been granted by formal
extensions of time approved by the
city, there will be a deduction from
any amount due the Contractor the
sum of $100 per day and every day
that the completion of work is
delayed.
The city reserves the right to
accept or reject any and all bids, and
to hold bids under consideration for a
period not exceeding 30 days from
the date of opening. The contractor
will be notified of the award within 21
days of the bid opening.
